Founder, Tatsujiro Hiraoka, starts the "Sometatsu Factory" in Minowa-machi, Tokyo. Hiraoka's business begins by refining and dyeing cotton and linen.
1907
Velvet corduroy dyed for the first time in the Kanto area.
1911
The company moves to 1-chome, Arakawa, to expand operations.
1935
HIRAOKA & CO., LTD. is established in a company reorganization.
Resin treatments and the dyeing of heavy fabrics expand.
1950
HIRAOKA develops Japan's first fireproof and waterproof processing technology for cotton canvas.
1954
HIRAOKA develops Japan's first fireproof and waterproof processing technology for synthetic fiber canvas.
1962
The Soka Factory is established.
1965
The Osaka Business Office opens in Nishi-ku, Osaka.
1968
The Soka Plastic Factory is established.
The manufacturing of leather and tarpaulin begins.
1970
Headquarters relocates to a new building in Minowa, Taito-ku, Tokyo,(present address).
1971
The company develops a backing technology, launches sales of car mats [COUMAT], and begins manufacturing interior products such as artificial lawns and carpets.
1974
Shiga Tarpaulin Factory is established.
1978
The Osaka Business Office is promoted to become the Osaka Branch in Umeda, Kita-ku, Osaka.
1980
High-frequency welder sewing technology is developed for cotton canvas.
Hiraoka U-Tape released.
The architecture curing mesh sheet series "TARPOSCREEN" is released.
1983
A new company laboratory building opens.
1988
Soka Plastic Factory is consolidated as the Soka Secondary Factory.
1992
A second factory wing is established at the Shiga Tarpaulin Factory.
1993
Soka Distribution Center is established.
1997
The Partnership Carpet Factory is established in Chiangsu, China.
The Tokyo Factory is consolidated as the Soka Waterproof Factory.
Flat canvas "ULTRAMAX" series is released.
2003
New Headquarters building opens at Minowa, Taito-ku, Tokyo (present address).
A partnership Car Mat Factory is established in Tsingtao, China.
TARPOLON G-3500 non-combustibility is approved.
2004
A local sales subsidiary is established in Australia.
The Osaka Branch moves to Chuo-ku, Osaka (present address).
Gas Co-generation introduced and installed in the Soka business establishment.
2007
A subsidiary company in the US, HIRAOKA (USA) INC., is established.
2008
The Fukuoka Office opens.
2009
Qingdao Pingxinghe New Type Decoration Renovation Material Co., Ltd. renamed Qingdao Pingxinghe Car Interior Accessories Co., Ltd.
2012
Yoshiji Hiraoka assumes position as Chairman and Executive Director. Yoshiaki Hiraoka becomes the President and Representative Director.
Technology Trend Previews are held in six locations: Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Sapporo, Sendai, Fukuoka.
ISO9001:2008/JIS Q 9001:2008 acquired.
A local sales subsidiary is established in Beijing, China.
2016
A local joint sales company, HAINING HIRAOKA HUIFENG MEMBRANE CO., LTD. is established in Haining, Zhejiang, China.
2017
The sales subsidiary in Beijing, China closes. The sales subsidiary, HIRAOKA INTERNATIONAL TRADING (SHANGHAI) CO., LTD., is established in Shanghai.
Yoshiaki Hiraoka assumes position as Chairman and Executive Director. Toshifumi Hiraoka becomes President and Representative Director.
